Weather Advisory - 2 July 2014

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Wednesday, 2 July 2014. This means that the heat index (how it actually feels outside) is expected to hit 105 degrees. The combination of high temperatures and a high heat index will increase the risk of heat related illnesses. If you have to be outside, then wear light colored, loose fitted clothing and drink plenty of water. Please remember that alcohol, "power" drinks and soda are all dehydrating. Water is your best option. Take regular cooling breaks throughout the day. Keep pets out of direct sunlight and replenish cold water often. Ice water is not dangerous to pets. Check on elderly friends and neighbors. Recognize signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Cooling centers are open in Anne Arundel County. Click here for county link.
