Neighborhood Crime New for 15 December 2014

I apologize for not getting this out sooner. Just like everyone else, I'm trying to get holiday stuff organized for my own family. Unfortunately, while everyone is blissfully happy during the holiday season, there are those who take advantage of those around them. We did talk about this at the last community meeting. It was stressed very clearly...LOCK EVERYTHING. The middle-of-the-night automobile "break-ins" are more like "open-ups". Keep an eye on your neighbors. You don't have to stalk them, but notice their comings and goings. If things don't look right to you, then call the police. If you are having packages delivered to your home, then asked a neighbor who is home to look out for them or have them delivered to your work. Sometimes we make it far too easy for thieves. Once their opportunities dry up, they will leave. As far as key fobs, make sure they beep. Physically check your doors. I go outside and check my car doors every night. It's mostly OCD, but it's the good kind of OCD I guess. Below is the email Bob sent out earlier. This is about a home burglary. I don't know the details, but we can all help each other by looking out for each other.

Morning Selby, Re: Home Break-ins
Please read the email I received this morning from one of our fellow Residents in Selby.
We all need to ‘watch out’ for each other and if we observe a suspicious activity – CALL THE POLICE. They won’t scold you if it’s a False Alarm - Really!

Maybe you can pass this along to the Selby gang. I know you do that from time to time.
My neighbor asked me to pass this along to you.
There was a Home Burglary this past Wednesday/Thursday on 10th Ave.
The haul was significant, computer, monitor, jewelry, cash, coins, etc. Police were contacted and a report was filed.
This was a pretty brazen break-in, because it appears they were in the house for a while.
The amount of stolen property indicates multiple trips in and out of the house or more than one person. To be clear, nobody was home during the break-in.
With all the recent activity in the community, I thought sharing this along with another reminder to keep our homes, cars, garage doors, sheds, etc. locked up tight, along with security lighting and a watchful eye is in order.
This is a great place to live, but we have more than our fair share of bad guys!
I hope sharing this reminds everyone to be careful.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to ‘click’ those Key Fobs before you go to sleep tonight and every night.
Regards,
Bob
